How to Install Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets

The simplest method to install the polycarbonate sheets is to use the specifically designed U and H connectors. When installing always check the frame structure: purlins or rafters (or both). This is important because you must determine the proper width of the sheets. To install 2 or more polycarbonate sheets on a roof you will need:

  • Install with the UV Side Up: Polycarbonate panels have a UV-protected side, which should always face upwards towards the sun.
  • Position the First Panel: Start at one end of the roof. Position the first panel so it overhangs the edge of the roof by a few centimeters. This will ensure that rainwater is directed away from the building.
  • Secure the Panel: Using your pre-drilled holes as a guide, secure the panel to the roof structure with screws and washers. Do not overtighten the screws as this could damage the panel.
  • Join the panels using H Profiles/ connectors.
  • Seal the ends with U profiles
  • Solid Aluminum Tape to close the flutes on the top side of the sheets
  • Vented Aluminum Tape to close the flutes on the bottom side of the sheets
  • Seal the Edges: Apply a polycarbonate compatible sealant along the edges of the panels and around the screws to create a watertight seal.
